Moving Checklist

There are many tasks and things to remember when you are moving with Jay's Moving Saskatchewan. If you aren’t well organized you could end up leaving important items behind, losing valuable records or forgetting to inform service providers about disconnections and hookups. Our professional movers have provided the following information to prevent any issues during your relocation.

A moving checklist helps you track all the important aspects of planning. Print it out, put it in a conspicuous place in your home office or your kitchen and cross things off as you get them done.

With more than 50 years of moving and storage services under our belt, Jay’s Moving Saskatchewan has the process worked out in detail. From pre-move planning to settling down in your new home, we’ve got you covered.

Moving Checklist:

·         Transfer club memberships, legal contracts, insurance coverage, school, medical (dental, optometrist veterinarian) and bank records

·         Notify the post office, vehicle registration bureau, government services (child tax benefits) credit card companies, magazines, mail order accounts, lawyer, accountant, and place of worship

·         Discontinue utilities (water, electricity, and gas), cable, internet, phone, satellite services, newspaper delivery, child care, and home services (housekeeping, laundry and dry cleaning, snow removal and yard maintenance)

·         Carry with you all important documents (passports, stocks and bonds, house papers and moving documents)

·         Don’t transport your irreplaceable items (jewellery, silver, photographs or your stamp and coin collections) in the moving van – these are not covered by mover’s liability

·         Keep with you enough clothing to last until your shipment arrives, as well as any medications/prescriptions, plane tickets, credit cards, small bills and change and duplicate keys

·         If travelling long distance by car you might want to consider packing some blankets and pillows, diversions for the children (games, music and DVDs) drinks, snacks (and wipes to clean up after the snacks)

Jay’s Moving can provide a great moving experience; our Saskatoon movers, Regina movers and every Jay’s employee across Saskatchewan and into Alberta will treat your shipment as if it were our own.

Last December I had booked Jay's to pack and move the contents of our son's home in Regina.  I certainly appreciated the in home visit from your moving consultant and his trainee.  On Thursday, Dec. 11/14 two Jay’s workers arrived at the house to pack the contents and did so in record time.  They did a very good job and were very careful when wrapping and packing the items.

On Friday, Dec. 12th three fellows from Moose Jaw and one from Regina showed up to move the contents.  These young fellows worked very hard, seldom took a break and handled the furniture and boxes with care.

I felt it was important to let Jay's know they have six very good employees that worked diligently to do their job to the best of their ability, were very pleasant and certainly gave Jay's a great reputation.  If I hear of anyone looking for a moving company, I will be recommending Jay's
