Time to Move? Jay’s Moving Saskatchewan Explains Seasonality
When is the best time to move? The moving industry is decidedly seasonal, and we are extremely busy at certain times of the year. The experienced moving consultants at Jay’s Saskatchewan can explain seasonality so that you understand how it affects your moving experience.
Our busy season is during the summer months and throughout July and August we operate at peak capacity. Most people prefer to move in the summer because the weather is favourable to travel, they can take time off work, and the children are not in school.
Relocating with children is much easier when they are between school years. The stress of moving is more than enough disruption to their routine without the added pressure of fitting into a new school partway through the year.
If you want (or need) to move during the busy summer moving season the most important thing to do is – plan ahead! Leaving everything to the last possible minute is likely to mean that you will find it difficult to book Jay’s Moving for your desired dates. We would like to accommodate all our clients, but there is a limit to the number of trucks and movers available to carry out your relocation.
Just like airlines that book seats several months ahead of the holiday season, we are booking our trucks and movers well ahead of the summer months for those who need to move during those peak times. If you book early enough, you might be able to secure a better rate because tariff rates are assessed and adjusted if necessary in late spring. Ask your moving consultant about it!
If you are able to move outside of the busy summer season, consider doing so, it might be worth your while. You will certainly find it easier to book the moving company on less advance notice because we are not as busy.
Plan your move for the shoulder season (spring or fall) if you have some flexibility in your moving dates. Jay’s won’t be quite as busy and the weather is usually not bad compared to the dead of winter.
If your move is local, you may be able to get a better rate if you can avoid the month-end rush, ask your consultant about it!
Understanding that seasonality is a significant factor within the moving industry can help you determine the best time to move. Jay’s, your Saskatchewan moving company can help you move at any time of the year, but our best advice if you need to move during the busy summer season is; plan ahead and book early!
